3.1 + 10 = 13.1

I did it!!! I ran 3.1 miles last night!! Woot Woot....

I started off on my run with the intentions of just doing what was called for on my training schedule. But as I got going the night was so nice (well actually in comparison to other hot summer nights) I just decided to see how far I could go. I surprised myself at my endurance that I have built up already. I have really only been running seriously now for 30 days. I went from the occasionally "whenever I feel like sweating off the Chuy's I ate" running to running 3.1 miles non stop last night. Now my time was not too impressive to real runners out there but keep in mind I'm an amateur and I just want to finish the Half. I ran it in 42:50 minutes which puts me at about a 13.5 minute mile. Not too bad being as how when I started I was running an impressive and stellar 14-15 minute run/walk mile. So I'm getting there slowly but surely.

There are a few things that were kind of weird that happened last night on my run. I was a good Samaritan to a neighbor who had left their interior light on in their truck. Nothing like a sweating, panting lady in black standing at your front door at 9:30 at night who can basically get out "Truck...light...on" in between gasps for air. Next, I was almost attacked by a gigantic, larger than life, demonic opossum.(You may not know but I hate them ever since one challendged me to a standoff near my trash can late one night) He darted for me out of a tree. I wasn't sure what the heck it was but quickly realized it as I jumped across the street *literally* and ran. And lastly and the most bizarre, the normal rub together til their raw of my thighs did not occur. I contemplated wearing shorts on my run since I had such a terrible experience several weeks back with the amount of friction my thighs create. The result was me walking the next day looking like a sat on a broom. But to my surprise I had no problem at all last night with sparks flying from the continuous jiggly thighs rubbage *is that a word..it is now**. That means one of two things happened, my shorts were stuck temporarily-permanently to my thighs from the gallons of sweat I was producing which created a buffer or my thighs are starting to tone up. Let's hope the later but I greatly think it is the former. I really don't like wearing shorts while running. My shorts don't free flow like most runners. Not my do the ever so embarassing ride up the crotch thing which then forces you to do the funky run/grab it and pull it out of it's frontal wedgie. I always feel so bad for those ladies who shorts do that...only because I have been there sista!!!

Well I'll be off tonight to recover, then it will be back kicking asphalt tomorrow night. Happy trails!!
